Design and Exterior
Unlike a standard mid-cycle refresh that only tweaks soft plastic bumpers, the Tata Aeris undergoes significant exterior re-engineering. The front fascia is noticeably sleeker, defined by slim LED headlamps connected by a prominent, thin LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) strip. The revised front bumper features striking C-shaped design housings, a wider central air intake, and upgraded LED fog lamps.
While the side profile retains the distinctive notchback-style tapering roofline of its predecessor, it introduces newly styled 14-inch and 15-inch alloy wheels that give the car a more premium stance. The rear design is completed by redesigned LED taillights and a re-sculpted boot lid.
Interior and Technology
The cabin borrows heavily from Tata’s recently updated premium lineup, introducing a heavily modernized dashboard layout. The focal point is a new 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drivers benefit from a binnacle-less digital instrument display and a flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel.
Comfort and convenience take a massive leap forward with the inclusion of a wireless phone charging pad, automatic climate control, connected car technology, and smart access card entry. On the safety front, Tata is expected to equip the Aeris with six airbags standard across all variants, supplemented by a 360-degree surround-view camera, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, and traction control for higher models.
Engine and Performance
Mechanically, the Aeris prioritizes reliability and fuel efficiency, relying on Tata's proven 1.2-litre (1199 cc), three-cylinder naturally aspirated Revotron engine.
Petrol:-
Delivers 84 to 86 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque, providing a smooth and predictable power delivery suited for urban commuting.
CNG (Bi-Fuel): -
The factory-fitted CNG iteration produces 72 bhp and 96.5 Nm of torque. Tata’s innovative twin-cylinder CNG technology is expected to be utilized here, preserving the 419-liter boot space by placing two smaller tanks beneath the luggage floor.
Transmission:-
Both the petrol and CNG engines will be paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
Upcoming EV:-
A fully electric variant is also in development, projected to utilize a 26 kWh battery pack and a front-mounted electric motor, aiming squarely at the entry-level EV market.
The suspension setup remains highly suited for Indian roads, featuring an independent lower wishbone MacPherson strut at the front and a semi-independent twist beam at the rear, offering 170 mm of ground clearance.
Pricing and Competitors
Available in updated variant nomenclature such as Smart, Pure, and Creative Plus, the Tata Aeris is priced at a slight premium over the outgoing Tigor due to its extensive tech additions. Estimated ex-showroom prices start at a highly competitive ₹5.90 Lakh for the entry-level Smart manual and scale up to roughly ₹9.78 Lakh for the top-tier Creative Plus AMT and CNG models.
Upon its release, the Tata Aeris will compete fiercely in the sub-4-meter sedan category, going head-to-head against established segment leaders like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the Hyundai Aura, and the Honda Amaze.
