The all-new, third-generation Renault Duster marks the iconic SUV’s highly anticipated return to the Indian market. Launched in early 2026, the new Duster is built on the global CMF-B platform, bringing a radical design departure, significantly upgraded technology, and potent turbo-petrol and strong-hybrid powertrains to reclaim its spot in the fiercely competitive mid-size SUV segment.

Design Exterior

The 2026 Renault Duster sheds the rounded, bulbous look of the original for a much sharper, boxier, and aggressive design language. It maintains its rugged DNA with heavily flared, squared-off wheel arches made from an unpainted sustainable material called Starkle, ensuring the vehicle looks ready for off-road trails.

The front end features a distinct, slim grille seamlessly integrating Y-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) that form a single visual bar across the fascia. The rear also receives Y-shaped LED taillights, a sculpted tailgate, and a robust skid plate. Depending on the variant, the Duster rides on aggressive 17-inch or 18-inch black diamond-cut alloy wheels and boasts an impressive 212 mm of ground clearance. Functional roof rails with a 50 kg load capacity complete the adventurous aesthetic.

Interior and Technology

The interior of the new Duster is a massive leap forward from the utilitarian cabin of its predecessor, blending modern tech with durable materials. The dashboard features a driver-centric layout headlined by a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Behind the newly designed flat-bottom steering wheel is a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

Renault has packed the Duster with premium features to match its rivals. Top variants feature an electric panoramic sunroof, front ventilated seats, an elevated center console with an e-shifter, automatic dual-zone climate control, and a wireless smartphone charger.

Safety sees a major bump. The new Duster comes equipped with up to 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)—including adaptive cruise control and active emergency braking. Standard safety gear includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and a 360-degree around-view 3D camera for maneuvering tight spots and off-road trails.

Engine and Performance

Renault has dropped diesel engines entirely for the new Duster, focusing instead on powerful and efficient turbocharged petrol and hybrid setups.

1.0L Turbo-Petrol (TCe 100): The entry-level engine is a 999 cc turbo-petrol delivering 99 bhp and 166 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission. It provides an excellent claimed ARAI mileage of up to 19.41 kmpl.

1.3L Turbo-Petrol (TCe 160): For performance enthusiasts, the 1333 cc turbocharged engine produces a class-leading 161 bhp (163 ps) and 280 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) with a wet clutch.

Strong Hybrid (E-Tech): A self-charging strong hybrid option is also available, utilizing a 1.8-liter petrol engine paired with a 1.4 kWh battery pack, maximizing fuel efficiency for city commutes.

The SUV offers three selectable drive modes (Eco, Comfort, and Perso) that alter steering feel and engine response. While most variants are Front-Wheel Drive (FWD), global versions offer 4x4 capabilities with terrain modes, a feature highly anticipated in top-tier Indian trims.
